Debate over which team Patrick Mahomes would play for in “Segregation Bowl”

Robert Griffin III said in no uncertain terms that he would not participate in an all-Black versus all-White NFL football game, like the one proposed by former Steelers running back Rashard Mendenhall. But if he did, he would not be the starter.

“I probably wouldn’t get a shot because Patrick Mahomes would be the quarterback of OUR team,” he admitted with total certainty in a viral video posted to his social media on Tuesday night. “And by our team, I mean the all Blacks.”

RG3 criticizes Mendenhall’s “dumbass” idea
Griffin hit on many key points in his explosive minute-long rant, but most of his ire was focused on Mendenhall for coming up with the idea in the first place.

“This is the tweet of a dumbass. Don’t be a dumbass,” Griffin said bluntly.

The former Washington quarterback also took personal aim at Mendenhall, joking about his notorious fumble in the Super Bowl and the fact that he might have CTE. Griffin then took it further, criticizing the controversial racial aspect of Mendenhall’s proposed game.

“Your prejudiced, discriminatory, racial ideology would set us back centuries. I don’t wanna go back to the old times. I don’t wanna participate in the Segregation Bowl,” Griffin said.

Griffin places his bets on the Black team
After discussing Mendenhall, Mahomes and addressing any doubt about which team he would be on, the ESPN football analyst did in fact give a prediction. He didn’t hold back.

“The third string all-Black team would beat the all-White team. By two scores,” he said.

He was quick to remind the audience that the outcome of the game was not the point of his video, but even as a huge detractor of the idea, Griffin couldn’t help but wonder how the hypothetical game would play out, as he popped back in the frame for the final seconds of the clip.
