A new report contains a multitude of revelations about Princess Catherine (aka Kate Middleton) and the role she plays in the Royal Family.
The 41-year-old Princess of Wales and wife of Prince William is on the cover of the latest issue of People. Within the publication’s pages, several sources have provided insight into her life.
They shed light on topics such as where she stands with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, what she is like when not in front of the cameras, the member of the royal family that she is “in some respects closer to” than her husband and more.
On Kate Middleton’s relationship with King Charles…
“It is clear that she and the King are quite close — in some respects closer to him than William,” an insider said about Princess Catherine‘s relationship with her father-in-law King Charles. The source added that the Princess has been “the honest broker” in mending Prince William‘s “fractious relationship” with his father.
“It’s only been recently that William has been closer [to Charles],” the insider alleged.
On Kate Middleton’s relationship with Prince William…
A former staffer alleged that Princess Catherine “provides William with directional setting. Royal biographer Sally Bedell Smith emphasized that she works with her husband to “[pursue] the initiatives that are important to them.”
Of course, she does that without “pushing to supplant the King and Camilla.”
On where the Wales stand with the Sussexes…
Amid reports of drama with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, one of Princess Catherine‘s friends said that the Princess of Wales has “moved on and William has too,” adding, “She’s very focused on what matters going forward. They aren’t looking back.”
On Kate Middleton guiding the response to the Oprah interview…
On the topic of Prince Harry and Meghan, their interview with Oprah Winfrey was discussed. In it, they alleged that there were concerns about the color of their son Prince Archie‘s skin before he was born and made other concerning claims.
Royal author Valentine Low reported that Princess Catherine played a key role in the royal family’s formal response to the claims.
“She thought it was very important this did not go unchallenged. She showed real strength and determination to make things clear that there was perhaps a different truth,” they said, adding, “Kate thinks strategically.”
“She is going to be queen one day and has the longterm interests of the monarchy and royal family at heart,” he said.
On what Kate Middleton is really like outside the public eye…
“She has this public image of being nice and smiley and, dare I say, innocuous,” Valentine said about Princess Catherine. “But she is actually strong-minded, strong-willed and prepared to fight for what she wants and what she thinks is right.”
