Elsie Hewitt, who is expecting her first baby with Pete Davidson, revealed why she worried she may not be able to have children prior to getting pregnant.
Elsie Hewitt’s road to motherhood has had its hurdles.
The actress, who is expecting her first baby with Pete Davidson, revealed she was diagnosed with endometriosis in November 2024, leaving her unsure at the time whether she would be able to get pregnant.
“I don’t know what ways [endometriosis] could have been affecting my fertility before the surgery,” she told People in an interview published Oct. 2. “I was 100 percent convinced that I was infertile and not going to be able to have kids.”
The disease causes tissue similar to the uterine lining to grow outside the uterus, often causing pelvic pain and difficulty getting pregnant, according to the World Health Organization. But fortunately for Elsie, 29, she was able to undergo laparoscopic surgery to treat her ailment.
“A big part of why I opted for the surgery was, first and foremost, my symptoms,” she explained, “but second, to preserve my fertility or try to get to a place where I could sustain the chances of having a family one day.”
Now that Elsie is set to become a mom, she and Pete, 31, are eager to create a nurturing home for their child.
“For both of us, we’re very conscious of not putting pressure on this,” she explained. “Like, ‘This child is going to fill a void or be this thing that I never had,’ type thing. But I do think that there is this really healing aspect of knowing that we’re going to be able to give a child the life and the support and the love and the family vibe that we don’t feel like we had.”

As for her partner in parenting, Elsie said she “could not ask for a better father” for her baby than the Saturday Night Live alum, adding, “I’m so happy it’s him.”
While Pete has also shared his excitement about having a baby, he previously admitted to worrying that his fame could complicate his impending fatherhood, describing Elsie as “a very private person.”
“I feel bad for my girl because I bring a lot of s–t,” he said during an appearance on The Breakfast Club in August. “She’s never made me feel this way or said anything, but I feel so guilty and horrible that I could not allow her to have the ideal pregnancy that almost every woman gets to have and enjoy.”
Nonetheless, Pete has made it clear he’s ecstatic about expanding his family
