Zendaya and Tom Holland are officially engaged, but that doesn’t mean fans should hold out hope for a wedding in the near future. According to sources, the duo, who got engaged at the end of 2024, have no intention of fast-tracking their wedding plans. People reports that Tom got down on one knee over the holidays while spending time with Zendaya’s family. He had been “wanting to propose [to Zendaya] for a while now,” a source explained, adding that “everyone close to them knew the engagement was happening.”
“He’s always been crazy about her. He always knew she was the one,” People’s source noted, “They have something very special.” The pair reportedly told friends about their engagement around New Year’s Eve, then Zendaya showcased her massive diamond ring for all to see at the 2025 Golden Globes.
The ring, which is reportedly features a 5.02 carat east-west cushion cut-diamond from London-based jeweler Jessica McCormack, wasn’t the only new harbinger of a relationship status change that Zendaya displayed on the red carpet. Fans also spotted a tiny “T” tattoo on the Dune star’s upper rib cage. It’s possible she got inked shortly after the engagement, though the tattoo seems slightly older than the last week.
Despite being happily engaged, the pair reportedly won’t begin planning a wedding just yet. Instead, they want to soak up this period in their lives and focus on important movies already in the pipeline. “They will just enjoy things for now and won’t rush a wedding. They are both busy with work projects,” People reports. Still, it’s clear the pair is thinking about their future. In an interview with Men’s Health, Tom spoke about what he hopes life will look like in a few years. “When I have kids, you will not see me in movies anymore,” the actor said. “Golf and dad. And I will just disappear off the face of the earth.”
So, when might wedding bells actually ring? While appearing on the Dish podcast on December 18, Tom discussed this year’s holiday plans, which included spending time with his then-girlfriend’s family. At the same time, he noted that he’d love to bring both families together for the holidays in 2025. “I think what we’d like to start doing is rather than spending it with each family each year is bring the families together. That’s what I think we want to do next time,” he said. “This time, because we’re both actors, we’re terrible at organizing things, so it hasn’t happened yet. The thought’s there. The idea has been planted.” A winter 2025 or 2026 wedding could be the perfect way to do just that.
