Victims who lost their lives in Wednesday’s tragic plane and helicopter collision are being identified.
U.S. Army pilot identified.
The list of those lost in Wednesday’s crash has been updated to include the identification of the 3rd pilot who was aboard the Army Blackhawk helicopter. After a brief wait requested by her family, the Army identified the pilot as Captain Rebecca Lobach. Lobach was a 28-year-old aviation officer assigned to the 12th Aviation Battalion.
Just before 9 p.m. EST Wednesday night, an American Airlines passenger jet carrying 67 individuals collided with an Army black hawk helicopter just shy of the runway at Reagan Washington National Airport near Washington, D.C.

An ongoing and extensive search and recovery mission is underway in the Potomac River where both aircraft ended up after the crash. Authorities announced Thursday morning that it appears there were no survivors.
The airplane was en route to Washington, D.C. from Wichita, Kansas, and was just moments from landing when it was struck. The U.S. Figure Skating organization announced overnight that at least 14 members of their community were aboard the plane. The athletes had been in Wichita for the U.S. Championships that took place over the weekend.
3 soldiers were aboard the Army helicopter that was reportedly on a routine training mission when the crash took place.
