Travis Kelce has joked about himself attending one day of the Kansas City Chiefs’ preseason practice this week after hosting his popular ‘Kelce Jam’ festival in Kansas City last weekend.

The 34-year-old, three-time Super Bowl champion showed up for the first day of the Chiefs’ organized team activities (OTAs) at The University of Kansas Health System on Monday, providing details of his early impression on the team’s newest additions this offseason after there was confusion around his mysterious absence, Wednesday.

Last week, the tight end hung out with Lil’ Wayne, 2 Chainz and Diplo on stage at the second edition of his musical festival.

He told his brother, Jason, on the latest episode of his podcast ‘New Heights’ on Friday: ‘I wanted to make sure that I showed my face [at practice] after Kelce Jam.

‘It felt really weird, not showing my face and throwing an absolute rager of a party for Kansas City two days before so I made sure I popped my head in.

‘I got to say hello to the gang. I got to meet a lot of the rookies for the first time. A lot of the new players that we signed, and it was just good to get back in the building and on the practice field.

‘It was offense versus defense. On a few occasions, it was seven on and then we did a little bit of team, and it just feels good to you know get back on the bike and start riding around again man, it was fun to get around the guys.

Asked by his recently retired older brother is anything stood out to him in practice, Travis said: ‘Well, I don’t want to get anybody excited right now but we look like a fine-tuned athletic machine right now. I’m not gonna lie man guys are flying in.’

He also revealed that one of the Chiefs’ newest players is already looking settled in the team’s offense and that as a veteran, he is offering advice to one of the team’s rookies who happens to play in the same position as he does.

‘It was cool to see for the first time Hollywood Brown go against the defense in a Chiefs helmet. See Pat [Mahomes] throw the ball to him. See my guy Jared Wiley in the tight end room. See how he feels, defenses and runs routes and just kind of picking his brain and seeing where he’s at.

‘And then on top of that, man, it’s just always a fun time seeing Pat Mahomes throwing the ball around in a seven on seven, man.

‘So, it’s a whole lot of fun. Meeting all the rookies and getting everybody back acclimated into the football world… it’s always good.’
