Wesley Snipes addresses fans demanding for Marvel to ‘cancelDeadpool & Wolverine star Wesley Snipes has addressed a recent fan opinion that he should continue to play Marvel‘s Blade instead of actor Mahershala Ali.

Ali was announced to be playing the next Marvel Daywalker in 2019.

However, the Green Book actor has yet to debut on screen as the character, besides having an off-screen line during the stinger of the MCU movie Eternals.

In a social post made by Snipes following the reveal of his return as Blade in the 2024 box office smash hit Deadpool & Wolverine, the actor addressed fans demanding for Ali’s movie to be “cancelled”.

“Cancel Mahershala Ali’s Blade movie and bring Wesley Snipes’ Daywalker into the MCU,” a headline said in a screenshot posted by the original Blade star.

“Y’all, crazy!” Snipes said in response.

He also added hashtags such as “Marvel Studios” and “Daywalker Klique”.

Snipes may have returned as the character, however, he admitted that he “did not think it was possible” or that “Marvel [or Disney] would be into it”.

“I didn’t think that [Ryan Reynolds] would be able to pull it off,” Snipes told Entertainment Weekly when talking about Deadpool & Wolverine after its SDCC 2024 premiere.

Despite having his doubts, his reveal in the movie has been noted as having the loudest reaction in the theatre as well as the most noise on the internet.

He added that he couldn’t see the studio being up for bringing him back “because they have Mahershala [Ali] cast for the next upcoming” iteration of the character.

“It didn’t make sense to me.”

He went on to reflect on his experience originally playing Blade compared to returning as the character in the now-Disney-owned version of it all, calling it a much bigger event.

“It’s a little different because they do it very big,” he said.

“Between Marvel and Disney, it’s very big, very big.”

He then, with a smile, that it “makes you want to do more Marvel films!”

“Hint hint, nudge nudge,” joked Entertainment Weekly.

In response to Snipes’ post, fans were fairly divided on the headline.

“There’s room for both. Just like it’s room for all those Spidermen. Support a brother,” one said.

“Your reposting is crazier,” another added.

While a third said: “We need it. When you walked onto the screen the whole theater cheered like it was your movie.”

“I mean…no one asked for a new blade,” a fourth said.

“Man, I grew up watching you as Blade. I don’t know no other Blade than you!”
