Kate Middleton is in remission four months after completing her cancer treatment.

The Princess of Wales announced the happy news on Instagram Tuesday while sharing photos from her surprise visit to the Royal Marsden Hospital in London, where she received treatment.

“I wanted to take the opportunity to say thank you to The Royal Marsden for looking after me so well during the past year,” she began in her emotional post.

My heartfelt thanks goes to all those who have quietly walked alongside [Prince] William and me as we have navigated everything.”

The royal, 43, went on to say that she “couldn’t have asked for more” from the medical staff, who provided “exceptional” “care and advice” during her time as a patient.

Middleton then announced she had taken on the role of Joint Patron of The Royal Marsden now that she’s in remission and has returned to her royal duties. (William was also made a patron, per the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust.)

My hope is, that by supporting groundbreaking research and clinical excellence, as well as promoting patient and family wellbeing, we might save many more lives, and transform the experience of all those impacted by cancer,” she wrote.

“It is a relief to now be in remission and I remain focussed on recovery,” she continued. “As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal.”

However, Middleton pointed out that she is “looking forward to a fulfilling year ahead” now that “there is much to look forward to.”

“Thank you to everyone for your continued support,” she concluded, signing off with her first initial.

In March 2024, the beloved royal revealed she had been diagnosed with cancer two months prior. She detailed undergoing major abdominal surgery while keeping the nature of her cancer under wraps.

By September, though, she announced she had completed her cancer treatment after receiving chemotherapy for nine months.

At the time, Middleton called her cancer journey “complex, scary and unpredictable” before noting that her main focus was to “stay cancer free.”

“Although I have finished chemotherapy, my path to healing and full recovery is long and I must continue to take each day as it comes,” she said.
