Jason Kelce is the brother of Taylor Swift’s boyfriend, Travis, which doesn’t give him any official relationship with the international pop star.
But to many, the two are effectively in-laws, and Jason isn’t pushing back against that narrative.
‘Jason, your future sister-in-law had a bunch of wins last night with the [Video Music Awards],’ the retired Eagles center was asked on Philadelphia’s 94WIP Morning Show with DeCamara & Ritchie.
By not objecting to that description of Swift, Jason inadvertently launched more marriage speculation for his brother and his girlfriend.
‘No correction?’ one commenter wondered on X. ‘Hmmmm……’
‘Not only does he know but he also isn’t afraid to be vocal about it,’ another person added. ‘It’s happening we just don’t know when.’
Jason went on to shower his potential future sister-in-law with praise for winning seven VMA awards this week.
‘All, obviously, very, very deserved,’ Jason said. ‘She is just so talented it’s ridiculous, not only as a singer, songwriter, but production-wise, she’s so involved in every facet of it,’ he said.
The show hosts went on to put Swift in the company of Elvis Pressley, Mick Jagger and Frank Sinatra. And once again, Jason did not disagree.
‘What is so impressive about her is that it’s so self-controlled,’ he said. ‘She’s so involved in all of it. A lot of these guys, again, they were great artists – and that’s what the profession is – but when you can be the great artist as well as the great business manager as well as the great producer, when you wear all of those hats, it’s just remarkable to me.’
The couple has yet to articulate any specific marriage plans, but one year into their relationship, they don’t appear to be slowing down.
Kelce showed his support from Swift from afar after the pop star thanked him in a VMAs acceptance speech.
Swift took home the video of the year award on Wednesday for her ‘Fortnight’ music video, and publicly recognized the Chiefs star onstage for his support and ability to bring ‘magic’ into her life.
And while Kelce could not be at the event at UBS Arena in New York, he reacted to Swift’s speech virtually as he liked an Instagram video of the speech posted by MTV.
The network tagged both of them in the post, writing, ‘One person ONLY cheers louder for @taylorswift than I do – and that’s @killatrav #VMAs.’
In her acceptance speech for the award, Swift singled out Kelce for his support during the shooting of the ‘Fortnight’ video.
‘And that one person was my boyfriend, Travis,’ she said. ‘Everything this man touches turns into happiness and fun and magic, and I want to thank him for adding that to our shoot because I’ll always remember that.’
Swift, who was nominated for 12 VMAs, ultimately left the night with seven awards on the back of her ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ album.
The couple, who have been publicly dating since last year, were seen enjoying themselves over the weekend at the US Open.
Travis spoke about the day afterwards on his New Heights podcast, saying, ‘It was a completely different world. I looked to my left and my right and every single time I did it, I saw a familiar face.
There were so many f***ing people there to see the action, especially the final game knowing an American was in the US Open.
However, due to his openness about their relationship, it was recently reported that the songstress was forced to lay down some ground rules.
‘Travis loves to show Taylor off,’ a source told Life & Style, adding, ‘She appreciates it but she’s cautioning him from revealing too much about their private lives.’
‘He wears his heart on his sleeve and says what’s on his mind,’ the source continued.
The news comes after the three-time Super Bowl winner gushed about his girlfriend, and her Eras Tour on the Rich Eisen show earlier this month.
The couple has consistently supported one another at work, with Swift becoming a regular at Chiefs games and Kelce following the singer on her Eras Tour over the summer.
The 1-0 Chiefs will host the 0-1 Bengals in Kansas City on Sunday, though it’s unclear if Swift will make the trip for the second straight week after she watched Kelce against the Ravens in the opener.
Meanwhile, Jason is gearing up for his second week on Monday Night Countdown, which will air on ESPN ahead of the Falcons-Eagles game in Philadelphia.
