Jennifer Lopez has officially filed for divorce from Ben Affleck, so what will she do with her ‘lucky’ green $5.6M engagement ring now?

Given her history, it’s likely this ring will be added to her already impressive collection of five engagement rings, raising the value to over $17m.

After all, she still has the pink rock Ben gave her 20 years ago, as well as the rings from former husbands Marc Anthony, Cris Judd and Ojani Noa. And she has her engagement ring from Alex Rodriguez. whom she never wed.

But her most expensive is still the $6.5m blue diamond ring from Anthony.

Laura Taylor, engagement ring specialist at Lorel Diamonds, told DailyMail.com, ‘Jennifer Lopez has amassed a remarkable collection of engagement rings over the years, each representing a different chapter in her life.

‘In the United States, engagement rings are typically considered gifts, meaning J.Lo is legally entitled to keep the ring after the divorce unless agreed otherwise in a prenup.’

‘As J.Lo and Ben Affleck didn’t have a prenup, the engagement ring, a stunning 8.5-carat green cushion-cut diamond, will likely be added to her collection.

The pair first wed in Nevada then in Georgia.

But in California, engagement rings are generally considered separate property, and courts often rule in favor of the recipient in a divorce. This is because the ring is typically given as a gift before the marriage, and the argument is that the gift belongs to the recipient regardless of whether the relationship lasts.

‘With the addition of Ben Affleck’s green engagement ring, J.Lo’s collection of engagement rings is now worth an estimated $17 million,’ added Laura.

‘The most expensive ring she has kept is the blue diamond ring from Anthony, which she described in a 2021 interview as her most treasured piece of jewelry, even more so than the pink diamond Ben gave her during their first engagement,’ she added.

‘While her latest engagement ring is certainly beautiful, I suspect that the engagement ring from Anthony will still hold the top spot for her.

‘She was married to Marc for ten years, and they share two children from that marriage, so I think it is a lot more sentimental for her, not to mention it being the most expensive in her collection thanks to the size, quality, and it being one of the rarest colored diamonds in the world, just ahead of green diamonds.’

Taylor, engagement ring specialist at Lorel Diamonds, shares details and valuations of each of the six rings in J.Lo’s collection.

‘The first engagement ring J.Lo received was from Ojani Noa in 1997. This was a 3.5-carat marquise-cut diamond on a yellow gold band, simple yet elegant, valued today at around $130k.’

‘Cris Judd proposed in 2001 with an emerald-cut diamond, set on a platinum band with diamond pavé, and is worth around $200k.’

Then there is the pink ring.

‘Ben Affleck’s first proposal in 2002 made headlines with a 6-carat radiant-cut pink diamond flanked by two white trapezoid-cut diamonds, set on a platinum band.

‘This iconic ring is valued at approximately $2.6m and is one of the most famous colored diamond engagement rings in the world.’

‘The most expensive and rarest ring in J.Lo’s collection, a magnificent 8.5-carat blue radiant-cut diamond, flanked by trapezoid-cut diamonds on a platinum band, was given to her by Marc Anthony and is worth$6.5m today.

‘Despite having received more rings since, this remains J.Lo’s most treasured piece of jewelry.’

‘Alex Rodriguez’s 2019 proposal included a massive 15-carat emerald-cut diamond set on a platinum band. This bold and impressive ring is valued at around $2m.’

‘Ben Affleck proposed to J.Lo for a second time with an 8.5-carat green cushion-cut diamond flanked by trapezoid diamonds and set on a platinum band. The ring is worth roughly $5.6m thanks to the rarity of natural green diamonds, which also happens to be J.Lo’s lucky color.’

Lopez filed for divorce from Affleck on Tuesday.

The superstar was engaged to Hollywood actor Ben, 52, in the early 2000s before breaking up and while the pair famously reconciled in 2021, they have now split up again after two years of marriage.

According to documents obtained by TMZ, the Jenny From the Block singer filed legal docs in L.A. County Superior Court without an attorney.

The date of separation is listed as April 26 2024, but the day on which J. Lo filed for divorce is in fact the second anniversary of the second ceremony they held in Georgia, which followed their initial wedding service in Las Vegas just two months before that.

According to TMZ, the ‘Waiting For Tonight’ hitmaker ‘does not say in her docs whether there’s a prenup’, although sources have claimed to the outlet that there is ‘no prenuptial agreement’ to begin with.

The couple has been rumored to have called it quits for some time now, but Jennifer – who has 16-year-old twins Max and Emme with ex-husband Marc Anthony and is stepmother to Ben and Jennifer Garner’s kids Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and 12-year-old Samuel – has not addressed anything to do with their supposed split, and just mere months ago insisted that there was a ‘real, true love’ between the pair.

She told the Metro newspaper: ‘I wrote This Is Me… Then when Ben and I fell in love 20-something years ago.

‘As fate would have it, we came back into each other’s lives. And on the 20th anniversary of This Is Me… Then, I announced that I would do This Is Me… Now. It was inspired by the surreal miracle that had happened.

‘Him coming back into my life and the two of us reuniting in a way that we never expected that was the inspiration for even going in the studio. The album just poured out of me.

‘It was just something organic and beautiful, but it was definitely inspired by getting this incredible second chance at real, true love.’
