Scary incident on Delta Air Lines … a plane crashed and flipped upside down after landing Monday afternoon.
Footage from Toronto Pearson International Airport shows the fuselage flipped over on a snowy runway … with emergency crews responding.
Smoke was seen billowing from the fuselage and the exterior of the Delta commercial jet was burned … and it appeared the wings and tail were broken.
The airport says the incident happened Monday at about 2:15 PM ET when a Delta flight from Minneapolis was landing.
The airfield is being cleared of ice and snow after a weekend storm dumped over 8 inches of snow on the airport, and it looks like the weather may have played a role here.
Fortunately, Toronto Pearson says “all passengers and crew are accounted for.” Delta reports the flight was carrying 80 people — 76 passengers and 4 crew members. The airline later updated at least 18 passengers were injured. The flipped plane was the only aircraft involved, the airline confirmed.
Photos appear to show passengers being loaded off the flipped plane … walking out of the overturned cabin door.
One person tweeted out video from the scene of the incident, appearing shocked but happy to be alive.
There’s been a slew of plane crashes recently in North America, including commercial flights like this one.
A Delta Air Lines spokesperson tells TMZ … “Delta is aware of reports of Endeavor Flight 4819 operating from Minneapolis/St. Paul to Toronto-Pearson International Airport as involved in an incident. We are working to confirm any details and will share the most current information on news.delta.com as soon as it becomes available.”
