Taylor Swift is so popular that everything she touches immediately becomes a trending topic. If she wears a shirt, it sells out. When she licenses a song for a TV show, her fans rush to watch it. This power even extends to music made by other acts.
The superstar and her boyfriend Travis Kelce were seen at the US Open tennis tournament recently, and, as is usually the case, all cameras were trained on her. Paparazzi—as well as the network airing the sporting event—know to watch Swift to catch every moment, as anything she does can, and likely will, go viral.
Swift and Kelce were spotted singing along to what the venue was playing in one special and fun moment, which, at one point, turned out to be one of the most famous singles in the rock world of the past several decades. The Darkness’ “I Believe In A Thing Called Love” has surged in sales after video of the power couple lip-syncing to the tune spread across social media platforms.

Luminate reports that in the past tracking week, “I Believe In A Thing Called Love” sold 1,250 copies in the U.S. That’s not a huge sum, but compared to how the song was performing just a few days before Swift and Kelce gave it a boost, it’s clear how powerful the two celebrities are.
Before the track became a trending topic—again—“I Believe In A Thing Called Love” sold just 200 copies. That means the cut experienced a 500% increase in purchases in just one week, and that gain seems to be connected inextricably to Swift and Kelce’s singalong.
