Fans are ecstatic over the news about Whoopi Goldberg’s next big career move, with the 68-year-old taking on the popular role of Miss Hannigan in the musical Annie in New York City.
Broadway World helped get the news out, sharing a photo of Goldberg, who is currently a co-host on The View, on Instagram and writing, “@whoopigoldberg will take the stage as ‘Miss Hannigan’ when ANNIE returns to NYC this winter!”
In the accompanying article, the publication shared that the musical will be performed at The Theater at Madison Square Garden for a limited, five-week run, between Dec. 4, 2024, to Jan. 5, 2025. In regards to Goldberg’s role specifically, she will play Miss Hannigan between Dec. 11 and Jan. 5.
Fans were hyped up about the exciting announcement, with people commenting about the actress and entrepreneur, “I absolutely love this for her,” and “Oh, that’s gonna be fun !!! She can sing her face off !!!”

For those interested in seeing Goldberg on stage in Annie, tickets for the general public go on sale on Friday, Aug. 9, at 10 a.m. EST. While Goldberg is only appearing in the show while it’s in New York City, Annie will continue touring the U.S. throughout 2025.
