Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce married in the celebrity wedding of the century, officiated by comedian Adam Sandler.
The pop superstar tied the knot with the American football player on Friday evening in a star-packed ceremony inside New York City’s Madison Square Garden, a 20,000-capacity venue befitting both music and sport royalty.
Swift’s brother, Austin Swift, served as her man of honour and Kelce’s brother and podcast co-host Jason Kelce was the groom’s best man. There were no other bridesmaids or groomsmen.
The ceremony was conducted by Sandler, who is legally ordained. He reportedly became friendly with Swift at the premiere of her concert film Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour in October 2023, which he attended with his daughters, who are huge fans. Kelce, meanwhile, grew close with Sandler on the set of his 2025 Netflix comedy Happy Gilmore 2.
The union has been described as “America’s royal wedding” because of the global attention it has attracted, and the fact it was held over the July 4 weekend, which, this year, marks the US’s 250th anniversary.
One of Swift’s songs was reportedly played on strings as she walked down the aisle, while Kelce’s nieces scattered petals around her, according to TMZ.
Swift’s longtime publicist, Tree Paine, confirmed in a statement that the bride and groom wore outfits by Christian Dior Haute Couture, with custom-made shoes by Christian Louboutin. Swift’s dress was designed by Jonathan Anderson, the Northern Irishman who joined Dior in 2025.
Shortly after the nuptials, screens around Madison Square Garden displayed a pink background and the text: “JUST&T MARRIED” – a nod to the couple’s first names. Donald Trump, who has criticised Swift in the past, seemed to take aim at the celebrations; the official White House Instagram posted a mockup of Swift and Kelce’s MSG sign that read “Trump Is Your President” and “It’s happened!”
